Say Yes to God
Have you ever ridden a donkey to Bethlehem from Nazareth? Have you ever been nine months pregnant, away from home and scared to death? A woman in my condition should have lots of loving care. Instead I’m out in the wilderness with no place to wash my hair. If I ever get out of this mess and back in a size eight dress, I’m never saying yes to God again. Have you ever told your mother, we’ve got to move the wedding ahead? Have you ever told your husband, you can share my heart but not my bed? I always dreamed of a special night in the honeymoon suite. Instead I’m thirty pounds overweight with ugly swollen feet. If I ever get out of this mess, out from under this terrible stress, I’m never saying yes to God again. Have you ever been through childbirth in a dirty smelly cattle shed? Have you ever laid your newborn down in the straw in a manger bed? I’ve always wanted my child to have the finest nursery. Instead he’s got a cow and sheep and a goat for company. If I ever get out of this mess, I’ll be the first to confess, I’m never never never never never saying yes to God again. Have you ever seen your seen your savior lying helplessly in swaddling clothes? Have you ever loved your infant from the top of his head to the tip of his toes? Have you ever attended a baby shower with shepherds and three wise kings? Have you ever seen the sky light up with thousands of angel wings? If I ever get out of this mess, will I ever again be so blessed? At the end of every tribulation, God has planned a celebration. So I think I might say yes. I think I might say yes. Oh, I guess I would say yes to God again. |
